Sisters...

"FOUR girls... wow your house must be nuts some days"... "Just wait until they are teenagers"... "Oh your house must be full of drama"... These are all things that I hear ALLLLL the time when people find out I have four girls.  And you know what?  Most of them are true. However, I think my girls are lucky because they have sisters.

As most of you know, I am the oldest of 5 children. I have three younger sisters and one brother.  I would like to tell you that we were very loving and caring with each other all the time... but that would be a lie!!!  However, now I see that I am so very lucky to have so many sisters.  (we will get to my brother some other time! ;)  Even though we may not be so close in age, I think we all get along pretty great.

Andrea and I work together and we camp together for most of the summer.  It is like having a best friend who knows all your secrets from your whole life.  This is great since I have just as much blackmail on her as she has on me!!!  I hope that we end up being those little old ladies that you always see together at different church teas and bake sales.  I can not imagine my life without her. And the highschool would not be the same without the "Twisted Sisters" teaching next door to each other!!!!!

I was very lucky to share my last two maternity leaves with my sister, Heather.  It has definately brought us closer together. Heather is by far the smartest of all the sisters. She works hard at everything she does and is very successful.  She is also the peacemaker.  It must come from being in the middle of the pack of kids.  Heather generally is not very vocal. She seems to just sit back, watch and think.  However, when she does have something to say it is usually quite insightful. Unfortunately, we don't get to see Heather and her family much because her kids are pretty involved and that darn work gets in the way but when we do get together it is always a good time.

Robyn has always been a free spirit. She is kind and fun loving.  We all love Auntie Robyn. There are just people in the world that light up a room and she is one of them. Since she lives so far away we don't get to see her as much ... but if she keeps buying concert tickets for the girls I am sure we will be making a few more trips her way.  (She is taking Makenna and Tansley to Lady GaGa in Edmonton at the end of August!!!)

We have a new sister in the family.  John got married last year to a wonderful girl, Allison, last summer.  We love our Auntie Allison.  She is a perfect addition to our crazy sisterhood. I am sure she was not sure what she was getting herself into the first few times we all got together but she seems to be able to hold her own when we all get together.

Anyway, I feel very blessed to have all these sisters to share my crazy life with.  Having sisters is like having best friends that you can be totally honest with because you know even if they don't agree with you or they think you are nuts, they will always love you!!!  (and kick anyone's butt who says you are nuts or what not!!)

For these reasons, I am so so so happy that my girls have each other.

Rhiannon went to camp last week.  She went to Torch Trail Bible Camp from Monday - Thursday.  Three whole nights away from her sisters.  Here she is before I dropped her off. Doesn't she look clean....

Here she is at the end of camp. Did she grow?  Did she bathe??? LOL

And here she is with her cabin leaders:

Now you would think that since Rhiannon was gone the other girls would enjoy having more time alone without having to share as much.  NOPE... by the last night I had to deal with two crying girls.  Makenna did not want to sleep alone downstairs when it was bedtime... although she does it every night during the school year.  And Jorja woke up crying in the middle of the night because she had no one to cuddle with.  Of course the next morning when we went to pick up Rhiannon from camp no one would admit that they missed her at all!!!!

Here are some pictures of why I am so happy that my kids have siblings.  They may not know it now, but they are so lucky!

You are never too old for matching sweaters!

Now I must remember to come and read this when the girls are yelling, screaming, fighting and crying!!!

The First Two weeks of Holidays in Pictures!!!

I have SOOOO many pictures to share!!! Enjoy....

For my birthday this year Andrea bought me a picture frame that says "Best Friends... My sister and I"  (or something like that). However, I went through my thousands of pictures and I did not have one good picture of us together so at Grad this year we posed for a picture for my frame... the first one turned out really good. The second one turned out more like the rest of the photos I have of us together!

The grandkids spent the last couple days of June at the lake with Lake Grandpa and Grandma. Finally, the parents showed up on Canada Day to "save" the grandparents!  We love Canada Day at Tobin Lake. Doesn't Grandpa look like he is STRESSED!!!! ha ha!

Kingsley and all the pretty girls!
And a quick game of chase the Ace before bed!

We even got to have a quick visit with Jen, Mark and J dot. (oops that would be their very new baby Charly)  She is so little and so cute!

And of course I had to wrap up that teeny tiny baby!
Aunt Brenda and Uncle Bruce stopped by to watch the big Rider game too...

The next day we packed up the trailer and headed south to Pasquia Park... lots of great times there!

Oh NO... do I have something on my face???

And all the kids got their swim levels this year... we are so proud!

I must mention that Kingsley was at Pasquia Park with us but he is now a big boy and it didn't take him long to find some friends to hang out with.  Of course, he did stop by when he needed more food or dry clothes.  I can't believe that next summer he will officially be a teenager!!!!

Finally we made it home... just in time to hang out slip and sliding and watching the Riders play!!!
Tomorrow we will start packing up the trailer again getting ready for our month at Tobin Lake!!!

Shallen watching the girls swim.

Looking like another Dayfire kind of day. It is kind of cool and dreary yet swimming lessons keep on. Shallen is dressed for the weather unlike her momma... Sitting here shivering by the pool drinking my coffee and baileys! Good thing there is not a coffee mug check at the pool door! ;)

Ahhhh.....

Now I remember why I am a teacher. Summer holidays. It makes all the weekends of marking and stressful days worth it!
We are camping at Pasquia Park. Weather has been fickle but a bad day of camping is better than a good day of work anyday!!!
Kids are taking swimming lessons so mornings are busy but other than that it is reading and "dayfire" time.
Dayfires are the best. Those are the fires you have on the cooler days that stay lit all day long. There is nothing better than reading by the day fire with a drink in your hand. :)
I am almost done my second book and way too many drinks to count! If only the kids could cook for themselves, then life would be totally sweet.
I am trying this blogging from my blackberry so we will see how this goes!
Hope you are all finding your own little slice of summertime.

Denise :)
